Daripada Ketua Pasukan 'Let's Help Ummu Salamah'

Salam.. Dear All..

Demam konvoi raya dah mula reda kan.. So pls allow me to update u guys on our social work whch idea ws fisrt initiated by our beloved fren, Sharida.. Tq Ida for the brilliant gud idea + gud thinking.. And tq so much Cikgu Umi for the wonderful suggestion for us to do our 1st social work @ Ummu Salamah Gerik. And of course, thanks atas persetujuan utk jd ketua pasukan 'Let's help Ummu Salamah'...

I had the opportunity to invite anak2 yatim Ummu Salamah to Majlis Raya Balai Polis Gerik, dpt jumpa Bro Mufa and Kak Salamah (ex kulim who run the orphanage.. ) And dpt sembang2 panjang... The nex day, I visited the orphanage yg langsung tak kelihatan spt rumah anak2 yatim sebab masih lg under construction.. Anak2 yatim masih lg duduk di bangunan sementara dan bangunan yg sedang dibina tak tau la bila boleh siap sebab masalah kewangan etc..

Seramai 37 org anak2 yatim dan fakir miskin bernaung bawah Ummu Salamah. 20 org tinggal di asrama yg serba kekurangan, full time. Cikgu Umi pernah bg gambaran to all of us, in our email group. Setelah saya pergi sendiri, saksikan sendiri, baru lah saya faham.. Dan saya betul2 tersentuh hati.. Guys, u all sld visit ths Ummu Salamah dan saksikan sendiri..

In short : mereka mmg sgt memerlukan bantuan. Segala bentuk bantuan. Utk bina bangunan, utk makan, utk anak2, bahan bacaan, rujukan etc, apa2 shj.. Ada masanya, fund utk pembanguan terpaksa diambil utk beli makanan utk memastikan anak2 cukup makan..

Referring to our initial plan to help the anak2 yatim utk bantuan persekolahan yg dijadulkan somewhr in Dec, maybe we can also think of a way to help them for the long term bantuan.. To raise fund to help them siapkan bangunan2 yg masih tertangguh pembinaannya..

Saya sgt mengalu-alukan pandangan, ideas, sokongan drp semua..

For a start, Mag, Ida, Nurul, Syahril, Fina, Masturah dan beberapa orang lagi have agreed to become ad hoc committee members. Yg lain2, meh la jom! Join kami... Please please please.. Mereka sgt memerlukan bantuan... Tq all

Ayuh! Kita Bantu Ummu Salamah

Tu sebab dia bergambar sambil mendongak tu. Ini semestinya bukan salah seorang anak-anak Ummu Salamah. Alahai, geram betul tengok si montel, siapa lagi kalau bukan Shamil, si jantung hati McNa. He's so sweet!

Anak-anak Ummu Salamah sedang menikmati hidangan KFC, tentulah sehingga menjilat jari...

When can I sit like that?

See, I told you abang-abang polis tu hensem. Especially yang seiras Dato' K tu.

Abang Mufa dan Kak Salamah. Tabik Springgg!

A Journey of a Thousand Miles

Kulim89 secara rasminya bersetuju memilih this pretty lady (lihat sebelah) sebagai ketua pasukan 'Let's Help Ummu Salamah'. Aha! Katanya favourite pass time ialah shopping pinggan. So, Let's check out what she has done.

Oh No! Lap cepat saliva yang sudah terleleh. Eh, Mcna, mana gambar kambing golek tu?

Tentulah lebih menggembirakan apabila Ketua Polis Daerah Gerik (correct me if I'm wrong), sudi menyampaikan sumbangan derma untuk Ummu Salamah berjumlah RM1K.

InsyaAllah, bak kata Loa Tzi, diterjemahkan kepada bahasa Inggeris : A journey of a thousand miles begins with one small step.

Salam everybody,

I am back to check the response. I am surprised at the enthusiasm, dengan semangat berkobar-kobar. I hope this sprit will continue. Wow, I am already being elected as the Advisor. I will be glad to help if needed. AJK pun dah ada. All you need is sheer determination with the sinceritys to help. I hope this will take off soon.

Actually if you look around, there are so many unfortunate people, and there are so many things that we can contribute to the society. I like to share with you this one.
Last Ramadan, I got a call from Pakcik Omar, the driver for KMK. I hope you remember Pakcik Omar who drove you all around for trips or to the hospital during your Kulim days. He called to find out about the Ramadan program that Cikgu Teh has been carrying out for the past few years at Kampong Air Putih Junjong, Kulim, which I am not aware of.

The yearly program is about handing out donation for the poor, needy people in the kampong. All this while, Cikgu Teh has been liasing with some ex students of MRSM Kulim(ANSARA Kulim) to get the donation. As Cikgu Teh is no longer around, Pakcik Omar was worried that the program might be stopped. Even some of the ex students were not aware of this program. Nevertheless, the program continued. Some ex students managed to collect some money for the donation. I was invited to witness the handing of the donation. I looked at those ladies - single mothers with so many kids or sickly children; old ladies yang tak boleh jalan, waiting patiently for the donation to be handed out to them. My heart went out for them. These people are the kind that will appreciate whatever we do for them. The good thing is, the ex students are going to continue with the yearly program that Cikgu Teh has started. Alhamdulillah.

This is just one example.
Have a nice day.

Assalamualaikum everyone,

I am so glad that this 1st batch of PKPians has already thought about
giving back to the society. This is also what Arwah Cikgu Teh has been
doing and preaching all this while.

A little bit update from me on Rumah Anak Yatim Ummu Salamah, Gerik, Perak.

Last Sunday, 21/8 I went to this rumah anak yatim. The journey took about one and a half hour (normal driving) from Kulim. My intention is to visit the place and distribute duit raya to those kids.

I choose this rumah anak yatim because it is operated by Mufahuddin Abdul Razak. He is an ex student, a 4th batch of MRSM Kulim and I have taught him before in Form 4&5.

It is a private rumah anak yatim. He and his wife operate it based solely on donations and contributions from the public and some from ex students. Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat only visit to check the place.

The place is quite basic- bangunan rumah kayu which serves as their house and 'hostel' for the kids. This hostel is not like the one that you stayed in Kulim. He is in the process of building small concrete house for the boys- tak siap lagi-slow progress; masih bergantung pada sumbangan.

There are 20 anak yatim, 7girls and 13 boys ranging from 6-17 years old, mostly anak-anak ibu tunggal. Their parents do not have enough to feed them or their earnings is not enough to send them to school. Mufahuddin tries to give them a decent life; send them to school and provide basic tuition.

There are also 18 other anak yatim under his care but stay outside or in hostels in other schools. He provides them some money so that they can still go school.

My duit raya is not that much but I hope it bring cheers to these needy kids. More can be done to this rumah anak yatim. As far as clothes is concerned, people have donated enough. Ummu Salamah told me that the kids lack reference books(not necessarily new ones), the kind that we use for PMR and SPM. . This is the kind of incentives they give to the children; if they get A's in their tests or exam, they can go home for the weekend! Not money or material wealth like we use to give to our children.

How many of us are willing to do like Mufahuddin; who forgoes his own needs and has the patient to take care of these kids who are already grown up and have their own values. I don't think I can do that. We are blessed with plenty, at least what we can do is try to give a decent and meaningful life to these unfortunate kids and make them useful to the society.

Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri and have a wonderful holiday.

Cikgu Umi.
